Welcome to a special Sunday edition of This Conversation Rocks. We are recording on Sunday Morning to discuss the outcome of Saturday’s votes in South Carolina’s Republican Primary (snooze) and Nevada’s Democratic Caucus (yea!!). So let’s get into it.
Results of Saturday’s Nevada Caucus (and the SC GOP Primary)
Well Bernie Sanders is still in it. Despite the early claims of the Clinton campaign, Bernie did just fine in Nevada. We get into the breakdown, talk Dianne off the cliff and generally laugh at the South Carolina results.
Next step, breakdown the coming primaries. Nevada GOP Caucus and South Carolina Democratic primary. Yes, Hilary will win in South Carolina, but as we discuss, it is all about the delegate count.
Did the results in New Hampshire matter? Well, it depends. Bernie won big, but then again, he was supposed to. Trump won, but then again, he was supposed to. Rubio flubbed it, but then again, he was supposed to. Listen as we cover all the reasons that New Hampshire matters followed immediately by all the reasons New Hampshire doesn’t matter.
Act 2 – Welcome to Saturday Election Coverage
Democrats hold a caucus in Nevada and the Republicans are holding their primary in South Carolina. We break down the various contests and predict the outcomes. We spend some time discussing how 538 comes up with their predictions and whether Nate Silver’s crew really can be relied on. We then wander down the rabbit hole and discuss that even though there are these known and accepted reasons for the outcomes, we all may not have a clue.
Act 3 – Super Delegates
Who are these people? Why does Bernie have so few and Hilary so many? Can we change this at all? We try to wind our way through the machinations of the Democratic Party to ensure that the establishment candidate wins.
Welcome to the Bernie Sanders episode. We will get into what Bernie believes and why your hosts really want him to win. But, before that…
Act 1 – Wrap Up Iowa
Iowa was a lot of fun for us Bernie lovers. But, Clinton did get more delegates. How was that possible? Well tune into our next episode to find out what super delegates are and how they affect the outcome. (hey a teaser)
Meanwhile, Cruz got a win, Trump lost. Rubio somehow thinks third place is really first. We try to decipher all of the insanity.
Oh and welcome to the establishment feminism as defined by two angry old white ladies.
Act 2 – Predict New Hampshire
Well, we are happy to say that we called New Hampshire correctly, but we still have plenty of concerns and commentary.
Act 3 – Bernie Sanders
What can we say, we really like this guy. Listen and find out why.
